Barcelona armchair – Mies Van der Rohe
The Barcelona chair was designed by Mies van der Rohe with the collaboration of the designer Lilly Reich.
This created the Chair, next to the Ottoman and side table game, for the German Pavilion at the international exhibition of Barcelona of the year 1929. The chairs were so magnificent that they were used as Thrones for Kings when they visited the Pavilion. It is inspired by the type of Chair used by the judges Romans.
The architect and designer Victor Papenek says many young architects to save money for a while to buy the Chair and display it in their homes with pride.
Mies Van der Rohe, like many other architects, He understood that the furniture should be in line with the composition of the building to achieve harmony in your design.
It is one of the best-known objects from the last century, and an icon of the modern movement, the Barcelona chair is a tribute to the combination of design and craftsmanship.
